We’ve got Vendor Registration opened up for AMVIV8, and made some progress on the schedule. Check out the AMVIV8 website for more details.
The minutes for our Board meeting on February 24, 2011, are now available for viewing.
This month’s Motor-In will be Monday February 28 at 6:30pm at the Crown & Anchor British Pub on Tropicana. Come visit with your fellow members and maybe meet some new ones; catch up on the latest news about AMVIV and enjoy the Monday special – All You Can Eat Fish and Chips. Not too shabby. See you there!
We need some help filling up the calendar!!!
Folks, now’s your chance to help pick our drives and our Motor In’s for the next few months. We did this last year and it was a rousing success. Come join us at Connie and Ladd’s Clubhouse next Thursday 3 March at 7pm and bring your ideas for drives and get togethers. Long drives, short drives, burgers, ice cream, whatever. We’d like to see our calendar filled through July. If you can’t make it, post your ideas here or email them to the VP (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you can make it, please RSVP so we’ll have a head count. There may just be munchies or refreshments provided…
Hope to see you there
This month for our monthly run, the SCMC will be joining Cars and Coffee on their February Cruise, Sunday, February 20 – The Death Valley and Furnace Creek Brunch drive. We will end the cruise for a scrumptious brunch at the world famous Furnace Creek Resort (www.furnacecreekresort.com ). The cost of the brunch is about $22 plus tax and gratuity. We will depart promptly from the Gas station on the SE corner of 159 and 160 (Blue Diamond) at 8:30 AM. Please arrive early so we have our driver’s meeting at 8:15 AM.
The ride will take ROUGHLY 2.5 hours each way. We will ride there as a group and have brunch once we get there. The trip back is rather open at this point. Several Club members have expressed a concern about how late we will return. We can certainly decide within our own group when we are ready to return. I don’t anticipate staying in Death Valley for much longer than an hour and a half.
The next Sin City MINI Club Board Meeting is Thursday, February 24 at 7:30pm. The meeting will be at Connie and Ladd’s Clubhouse, 4803 Mojave Road just North of the Tropicana intersection.
There are a few topics we need to discuss and move ahead with:
One of the positions on the Board is open: do we refill it and with whom?
The Club’s standing as a legal entity has changed – we need to discuss what’s different
Update on club membership status
All members are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there.
The wait is over ~ it’s time to get registered!

Hope to see you in May, if not sooner.
This month the SCMC will be joining Cars and Coffee on their February Cruise, Sunday, February 20 – The Death Valley and Furnace Creek Brunch drive. If we’re lucky, all the rain will create a beautiful palate of wild flowers along our route through the deserted roads of the majestic Death Valley. After brunch, we can decide within our own MINI group when we’d like to head back.
Yes… this Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday – the culmination of a season’s worth of gridiron clashes between this team and that. The fickle media is whipping itself into a frenzy, tripping over themselves to add even more hype to what promises to be the spectacle to end all spectacles. At least until the next spectacle comes along.
Some of us though are left sort of scratching our heads. Seems like much ado about nothing to us. Besides the commercials, there is an ever-growing contingent of us that really could care less who is playing this weekend, and who wins.
We’ve come up with an idea of something else to do. Intrigued? Well, here it is. We’re heading out to St. George, Utah. We hear there’s another burger chain out there, that will be coming to our area soon. No, it’s not here in the Vegas Valley yet, and we’re just drooling to sample it. It’s called Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Another very simple menu, nothing exotic. Looks like some good food, after a nice drive.
We’ll meet at the Petro Shopping Center by the Las Vegas Motor Speedway at 1030am, and plan to roll out by 1100am.
See you there!
